Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne: "Holograms Reveal Brain's Inner Workings"

Researchers at the EPFL are using holographic mapping techniques to picture and track the activity of not just one single neuron but of groups of neurons acting together. ” In real-time and in three dimensions—with up to 50 times greater resolution than ever before.”  The technique is a breakthrough for this reason and for the fact that the laser beam used to pick up the information is non-invasive and requires no dyes to be injected into the subject.
